Khulna district saw a person test positive for coronavirus (Covid-19) at around 6pm on Monday. It is the first such case in the district.
According to Khulna civil surgeon Dr Sujat Ahmed, the man submitted his samples to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) on Sunday.
He was kept in home quarantine as the medical authorities felt he did not need to be hospitalized.
Before April 4, the man was with the Tabligh Jamaat, a religious preaching group, and had been staying at his home after that.
His residence and the nearby areas have been kept under lockdown. The authorities are trying to identify people who came into contact with him, said Dr Shailendra Nath Biswas of KMCH.
The KMCH has tested samples from 200 people with a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) machine since April 7.
