Kotwali police station under Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) has started using drones from Sunday to ensure social distancing to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Confirming the matter, Kotwali police station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Mohsin said: "We are collecting still photos and video footage of people unnecessarily gathering in areas, defying government directives."

“Some people are still on the streets without valid reasons. We are frantically trying to raise awareness among people about the deadly viral disease," said Mohammad Mohsin.

The OC also vowed to take stern action against those roaming around in the streets without legitimate reasons.

Until Sunday, Bangladesh had confirmed 621 Covid-19 cases. Of them, 14 are from Chittagong.
