After a seven-month delay following the publication of the final results of the 44th BCS examination, the government has issued a gazette appointing 1,490 candidates to various cadres.
The order was issued Thursday by the New Appointment Wing of the Ministry of Public Administration and made public on Friday.
According to the gazette, appointments were made across both technical and general cadres, including 244 candidates in the Administration Cadre, 48 in the Police Cadre, nine in the Foreign Service Cadre, and 29 in the Audit and Accounts Cadre.
The newly appointed officers have been instructed to join their respective cadre-controlling ministries by Monday, failing which their appointments will be cancelled. Authorities also reserve the right to amend or revoke appointments if any adverse information emerges later.
It may be recalled that the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) published the final results of the 44th BCS on June 30 last year. Against 1,710 vacant posts, the commission recommended 1,690 candidates for appointment. Following police verification and completion of other formalities, 1,490 candidates have now been appointed through this gazette.
