Health Adviser Nurjahan Begum delivered a powerful message on the sacrifices made for the nation's progress, highlighting the stories of 39 individuals who lost their vision during recent protests.
She added that these sacrifices demand action to build a better, more just future.
"These individuals gave up their world of sight for the hope of change," she said, urging the organization to honor their sacrifices by delivering quality medicines at affordable prices and reducing system losses to ensure the public's trust.
She said these speaking at a meeting with the state-owned Essential Drugs Company Limited (EDCL) on Monday.
She called for transformative changes in EDCL to enhance its reputation, efficiency and service to the nation.
Along with that, Dr Sayedur Rahman, Special Assistant to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, also expressed that EDCL plays a pivotal role in the government’s mission to achieve universal health coverage.
He urged the need for transparency, innovation and efficiency to meet the nation’s healthcare demands, urging EDCL to embrace its potential to reshape the pharmaceutical landscape.
Nurjahan Begum reiterated her call for EDCL to set a benchmark in integrity and excellence, committing to provide the highest quality healthcare support to the nation’s people.
