Seven new metropolitan police commissioners have been appointed across various cities in the country.
The appointments were announced through a notification signed on Tuesday, September 3, by Deputy Secretary of the Police-1 branch of the Ministry of Home Affairs Mohammad Mahabur Rahman Sheikh.
The newly appointed commissioners are:
Chittagong Metropolitan Police: Hasib Aziz, additional DIG (promoted to DIG) of the CID.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police: Md Rezaul Karim, additional DIG (promoted to DIG) of the Anti-Terrorism Unit.
Gazipur Metropolitan Police: Khondakar Rafiqul Islam, additional DIG (promoted to DIG) of the CID.
Rajshahi Metropolitan Police: Mohammad Abu Sufian, additional DIG (promoted to supernumerary DIG) of the Tourist Police.
Khulna Metropolitan Police: Md Zulfiqar Ali Haider, deputy police commissioner (promoted to supernumerary DIG) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
Rangpur Metropolitan Police: Md Mojid Ali, additional DIG (promoted to supernumerary DIG) of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).
Barisal Metropolitan Police: Aminul Islam, deputy police commissioner (promoted to supernumerary DIG) of the DMP.
The notification specifies that these appointments, made in the public interest, are effective immediately.
