Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will procure 8,000 tons of lentils and 10,000 tons of sugar for its open market sale (OMS) program on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.
The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchases (CCGP) approved two separate TCB proposals at its meeting on Wednesday.
The Ministry of Commerce placed the proposal on behalf of the TCB. Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali presided over the meeting.
As per the proposals, the TCB will procure 8,000 tons of lentil from Agrigo Trading Ltd of India at Tk76.64 crore through an open tender. Each kilogram (kg) of lentil will cost Tk100.80.
The TCB will procure 10,000 tons of sugar from the state-owned Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation (BSFIC) through the direct purchase method (DPM).
Each kg of sugar will cost Tk160.
