The import duty on four commodities, including sugar, edible oil, rice, and date, will be cut by Thursday.
State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu said that a gazette notification reducing the duty will be issued before Thursday.
The state minister for commerce said this to reporters after an inter-ministerial coordination meeting held at the Ministry of Food on Tuesday.
Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder and Agriculture Minister Abdus Shahid were also present in the meeting.
The government had decided to reduce the duty on four products before Ramadan, but notification has not been issued so far.
