Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday said the government has taken initiatives to enhance treatment facilities of some non-communicable diseases, like cancer and kidney and cardiovascular diseases, for the ultra-poor at all district-level hospitals.
“All district-level hospitals under the eight divisions across the country will be accommodated with treatment facilities for cancer as well as kidney and heart diseases, particularly for the poor people,” she said.
The prime minister said this while responding to a query made by opposition lawmaker Md Rustum Ali Faraji of Pirojpur 3 while participating in the question-answer session scheduled for the premier in parliament.
At the district hospitals, the prime minister said, ten beds will be fixed for the dialysis of kidney patients and ten others for intensive care units (ICU).
The government has already taken healthcare facilities to the doorsteps of the poor as they are now getting most of the healthcare services, including maternal healthcare facilities, said the prime minister.
