The government has decided to remove Dr Md Aminul Hasan from the post of director for hospitals & clinics at the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), sources in the Health Ministry said on Wednesday afternoon.

The decision to remove Dr Hasan comes just a day after DGHS chief Prof Dr Md Abul Kalam Azad stepped down from his post following various controversies and criticism.

Earlier, the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) announced that five senior officials of DGHS will be questioned as part of its inquiry into the fake Covid-19 certificates and N95 masks scam in recent months.

DGHS officials to be questioned include Additional Director General (Administration) Dr Nasima Sultana, Director (Hospitals & Clinics) Dr Md Aminul Hasan, Deputy Director (Hospital And Clinic) Dr Younus Ali, and Additional Director Shafiur Rahman.

Prof Azad, who was made the country’s first ever Grade 1 secretary in this post, was criticized heavily in the wake of several Covid-19 related controversies surrounding the state-run organization and different private hospitals in Dhaka city.
