Govt extends tenure of BB Governor Fazle Kabir

The extended tenure will expire on July 3, this year

The government has extended the tenure of Bangladesh Bank Governor Fazle Kabir for three months.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a circular in this regard on Sunday.

The current tenure will expire on March 20, this year, it said.

As per the circular, the government approved the contractual appointment of the governor until he reaches the age limit for retirement at 65.

The extended tenure will expire on July 3 this year. 

Fazle, a former senior secretary to the Bangladesh government, joined as the 11th governor of the central bank on March 20, 2016.

He was born in 1955.
