The government has appointed former information secretary Abdul Malek as information commissioner with the status of senior secretary.
"The president made the appointment in accordance with section 15(1) and 17 of Right to Information Act, 2009," said a gazette notification signed by Deputy Secretary Nasrin Pervin on Thursday, reports BSS.
Malek retired from the Ministry of Information on December 30, 2019. He was the secretary at Local Government Division and worked as personal secretary 1 of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina earlier.
