Reputed Bangla blogging website – somewhereinblog.net – has been unblocked by the government after an eight-month-long ban.
The matter was confirmed by Posts and Telecommunications Division Minister Mustafa Jabbar through a post on his verified Facebook profile on Wednesday night.
Earlier in February this year, the minister said Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has been ordered to block more than 20,000 pornographic websites, along with somewhereinblog and Google Books.
When asked if www.somewhereinblog.net and books.google.com.bd were in anyway related to pornography, the minister said they had objectionable content.
Meanwhile, the moderators of the blog on Thursday thanked the minister for lifting the ban through a notice post on the blog.
