The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) has approved 10 projects, one of which is to set up axle load control centres on important highways.
The projects are estimated to be at a cost of Tk6,326 crore, including Tk1,630 crore for the axle load control centres.
The approval came at the Ecnec weekly meeting held at the NEC conference room on Tuesday with Ecnec Chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
“Today, we placed 10 project proposals at the meeting from seven ministries, and all the 10 projects were approved,” said Planning Minister MA Mannan while briefing reporters after the meeting.
Of the estimated cost of Tk6,326.23 crore, Tk5,326.91 crore will come from the national exchequer while the remaining Tk999.32 crore will come from the organizations concerned, he said.
Of the projects, nine are new, with the remaining being a revised one.
The minister said the project, "Establishment of Axle Load Control Centres at Entry Points of Goods Transport in the Important Highways under the Road and Highways Department," will be implemented by June 2022.
Under the project, the axle load control centres will be set up at 21 points of important highways of the country, he said.
