Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Tuesday said BNP is free to wage a movement as it is a democratic right, but any attempt to cause anarchy would not be tolerated by the government.

"BNP can wage a movement in the coming days as it is a democratic right. However, if they want to unleash anarchy in the name of a movement, it will be dealt with an iron fist," the home minister said while addressing reporters after resuming office for the second consecutive term, reports UNB.

He added that the government’s main challenge will be to continue suppression of militancy. “The government has a zero-tolerance policy against militancy. We have not allowed militancy to rear its ugly head, and we will not allow it in the future either.”

Asaduzzaman further said the government wishes to maintain a zero-tolerance policy for drug abuse as well. “The menace of drug abuse will be rooted out at any cost.

"Our law enforcement agencies are working efficiently to uproot terrorism and drug abuse. They are now well-prepared to maintain law order," he added.

The home minister also said he was determined to finish a number of ongoing projects.
