The chief minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, is likely to come to Dhaka in mid-February on a three-day visit.
A Foreign Ministry official said Mamata might join the International Mother Language Day and Language Martyrs Day programmes during her visit.
“She earlier expressed interest to visit Dhaka. We are also prepared to welcome her ahead of February 21,” the official said seeking anonymity.
Mamata was supposed to visit Dhaka in 2011 with then Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh. But she cancelled the trip at the last minute protesting the proposed Teesta water sharing agreement.
