BNP stresses more effective Bangladesh-China tie

The BNP yesterday observed that the relation between Bangladesh and china would play an important role in the socio-economic development in Asia region.

“Around 42% people of the world live in this region. That is why economic development of this region played a significant role in the global economy,” Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, acting secretary general of the party, said.

Addressing a discussion at the National Press Club organised by Bangladesh-China Friendship Association marking the 65th founding anniversary of the People’s Republic of China and 39 years of Bangladesh-China diplomatic tie, Fakhrul said, “Bangladesh-China has had a very good and strong historic ties.”

The BNP leader said his party always considers China’s assistance for Bangladesh’s socio-economic development and the tie would be strengthened whenever they would assume the office.

Hoping that BNP will work for strengthening the regional cooperation in the future, Fakhrul said party founder Ziaur Rahman established Saarc for the development of this region and now-a-days China is also observer of it.

“It was Ziaur Rahman who first established the diplomatic tie with China.”

The spokesperson of the party found similarities in their fight against hegemonic powers. “Bangladesh is still struggling to return to democracy.”

Fakhrul demanded immediate and unconditional release of party’s standing committee member Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain, who played a key role in strengthening Bangladesh-China diplomatic ties. Qu Guangzhou, Charge d’Affairs of the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka, hoped that bilateral ties and friendship of Bangladesh-China will further be strengthened.
