At least 29 Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested during the past two days at Basirhat border in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal for illegal entry into India, reported PTI.
Earlier on Saturday, 24 Bangladeshis were taken into custody while five more were held on Sunday for trying to cross border.
Bangladesh and India share a 4,096 kilometer (2,545 miles) long international border, the fifth-longest land border in the world.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made it clear that his party would take all necessary steps to stop the illegal crossing of border by Bangladeshi citizens.
