The Iranian Embassy in Dhaka has sent a note on the reports titled “Migrants in Iran forced into ‘slavery’” and “108 Bangladeshis trapped in Iran” published in the Dhaka Tribune on April 12, saying “…it is a sharp assessment to claim migrants in Iran forced into slavery.”
However, the note says: “Needless to mention, illegal immigration and forcing labour force into slavery are not only emerged new issues but also international problems. Therefore, in order to control illegal immigrants and combating with modern slavery, having close cooperation among different countries is needed.
“To achieve this aim, the government of Islamic Republic of Iran has showed its readiness and interest to the government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh…We believe regarding the unique role of Medias in shaping of the public opinion, it is a sharp assessment to claim migrants in Iran forced into slavery.”
