Update : 27 Mar 2014, 12:03 PM

The Russian Federation has expressed intentions to extend academic scholarship for Bangladeshi students who are interested to study in Russia.

The foreign delegate was speaking at a press conference in the capital on Thursday after meeting Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor.

About 650 international students are enrolled in Russia for higher education under government scholarship programme, Chesnokov said. The number sills rise to 1,000 this year.

The quota of scholarship for Bangladeshi students has already been raised to 61 this year. “It will increase if we get much response,” he added.

The Federation authority is interested to increase scholarship for Bangladeshi students as a sign of friendship between Russia and Bangladesh, he said.

Regarding employment for Bangladeshis, Chesnokov said Russia considers job opportunity for all qualified and efficient persons with professional expertise in the federation.

“If anyone achieves the qualification, they must get opportunity for a job in the federation.”

Minister Asaduzzaman Noor said Russia is a trusted friend of Bangladesh. “They gave tremendous support during the Liberation War.”

The Russian Federation is interested to heighten the collaboration with Bangladesh in cultural and educational sector.

Russia is also interested to exchange delegation between the two countries for cultural exchange between the younger generations.
