US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T Christensen travelled to Barisal by launch on Sunday and visited the Bhimruli floating guava market, where he sampled fresh local guavas.
The US Embassy in Dhaka shared the information in a Facebook post on Sunday.
The ambassador arrived at the market around 9:00am, when Additional Deputy Commissioner Md Kowsar Hossen welcomed him with flowers.
“I’m exploring this beautiful region of waterways by launch. I’ve really enjoyed visiting Barisal,” Christensen was quoted as saying.
During the visit, Christensen observed guava trading and transportation activities and spoke with local farmers and traders.
The embassy said the ambassador had a wonderful time boating through the Bhimruli floating market and enjoying fresh guavas.
