Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury has said Malaysia and Bangladesh have agreed that no syndicate will be involved in the process of sending workers to Malaysia.
Speaking to journalists at his ministry in Dhaka on Tuesday after returning from a visit to Malaysia, the minister said the two countries held positive discussions on labour migration.
He said both sides reached an understanding on ensuring a transparent recruitment process and reducing the cost of sending workers. A final decision on the matter is expected during the visit of Malaysia’s Human Resources Minister to Dhaka in July, he added.
During Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s visit in Malaysia, he held a bilateral meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and met with representatives from various business and government sectors.
Both sides also agreed to further strengthen cooperation in areas including trade, investment, labour migration, defence, energy, and the digital economy.
