Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan has said the rapid expansion of new media in the modern world has created new opportunities for joint initiatives with Pakistan,
The minister made the remark after Pakistan High Commissioner toImran Haider called on him at the secretariat on Monday.
The meeting, held at the minister’s office, focused on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in the media, culture and knowledge-based sectors.
The minister said the growth of digital and new media platforms has opened up avenues for enhanced collaboration between the two countries. He expressed hope that new areas of cooperation in the media sector would be identified in the future based on mutual interests.
Both sides stressed the importance of increasing people-to-people contact between Bangladesh and Pakistan. They discussed cultural exchanges, including mutual visits by artists and performers, along with the possibility of joint productions.
The discussion also covered student exchange programs in science-based education under the Pakistan-Bangladesh “Knowledge Corridor” initiative.
Both sides agreed to further strengthen cooperation between Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) and Pakistan’s state-run news agency Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).
The high commissioner invited the minister to visit Pakistan and expressed hope that such a visit would further strengthen bilateral ties.
