IGP stresses stronger cooperation between FBI, Bangladesh Police units

The FBI delegation leader expressed interest in supporting efforts to enhance the capacity of Bangladesh Police

Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Bangladesh Police Md Ali Hossain Fakir on Wednesday emphasized the importance of further strengthening cooperation and collaboration between the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and various units of Bangladesh Police.

He made the remarks when a four-member FBI delegation, led by Suhail Daoud, paid a courtesy call on him at the Police Headquarters in Dhaka on Wednesday.

During the meeting the delegation leader expressed interest in supporting efforts to enhance the capacity of Bangladesh Police. Discussions focused on strengthening cyber security, establishing cyber complaint centers, monitoring social media, combating financial crimes, and providing assistance in technology-driven investigations.

The IGP highlighted the need for enhanced collaboration between the FBI and different units of Bangladesh Police, including the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU), and Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC).

Both sides expressed hope for stronger and more productive cooperation in the future. Senior officials of Bangladesh Police were also present at the meeting.
