Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam briefed foreign embassies in Dhaka on the latest preparations and security measures for the upcoming national parliamentary elections and referendum.
The briefing was held at the State Guest House Padma on Thursday afternoon, where the government assured diplomats of adequate security arrangements.
According to the Foreign Ministry, embassies were informed that the Election Commission will welcome foreign election observers and has invited them to deploy observation missions.
The diplomats were also told that law enforcement agencies, including the armed forces, remain on alert and are working to maintain law and order throughout the election period. In this context, the government reiterated assurances regarding the security of foreign missions and personnel.
Around 40 diplomats from various embassies based in Dhaka attended the briefing.
