Canadian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Ajit Singh met National Consensus Commission Vice-Chairman Professor Ali Riaz on Wednesday to discuss the Commission’s progress.
He was accompanied by Marcus Davies, political counsellor, and Stephen Weaver, counsellor and head of cooperation, said a press release.
Professor Riaz briefed the delegation on dialogues with political parties on building consensus and drafting the National Charter.
He welcomed Canada’s interest and emphasized the value of international partnerships in strengthening democratic institutions.
During the meeting, the Canadian delegation expressed strong support for the Commission’s objectives.
They commended the efforts being made to promote inclusive dialogue and national consensus and assured continued cooperation and assistance from the Government of Canada.
