BNP chairperson and former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia was seen spending time in a London park with her family members on Tuesday as part of the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations, the most significant religious festival for Muslims.
BNP acting chairman and Khaleda Zia’s eldest son, Tarique Rahman, accompanied his mother in the park, pushing her wheelchair, while other family members joined them, BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan told BSS on Wednesday.
A video of Khaleda Zia being wheeled through the park went viral on social media.
In the footage, her personal assistant, Md Masudur Rahman, is seen pushing her wheelchair, while Tarique Rahman walks beside them with his family.
Her personal physician and BNP National Standing Committee Member Dr AZM Zahid Hossain was also present.
Khaleda Zia, who travelled to London for medical treatment, is currently staying at her son Tarique’s residence.
On January 7, the former prime minister was flown to London for treatment in a royal air ambulance sent by Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the emir of Qatar.
She underwent medical care at The London Clinic for 17 days under the supervision of Professor John Patrick Kennedy.
Following her hospital stay, the medical board at The London Clinic decided that Khaleda Zia would continue her recovery at her son’s residence under the supervision of Professor Patrick Kennedy and Professor Jennifer Cross.
