Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus is set to speak at the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) conference on Thursday.
According to Chief Adviser's Deputy Press Secretary Azad Majumder, Yunus will address the opening plenary of the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2025 at approximately 11:30am local time.
The session, to be held at the BFA International Convention Center in Hainan, will also feature speeches by Lao PDR Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, Executive Vice Premier of the State Council of China Ding Xuexiang, Boao Forum Asia Chairman Ban Ki-moon, and Secretary General Zhang Jun.
At 2pm local time, Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Qu Dongyu will meet with the chief adviser, said Azad.
Additionally, Yunus will hold a bilateral meeting with former United Nations secretary-general Ban Ki-moon, he added.
The deputy prime minister of Russia is also scheduled to meet with the chief adviser, he confirmed.
Yunus arrived in China on Wednesday for a four-day official visit.
"A special flight carrying the chief adviser and his entourage landed at Qionghai Boao International Airport in Hainan at approximately 4:15pm (Bangladesh Standard Time)," Azad said.
Upon arrival, Bangladesh Ambassador to China Md Nazmul Islam and the vice governor of Hainan province received the chief adviser at the airport.
On the sidelines of the forum, Yunus is expected to hold meetings with chief executive officers (CEOs) of major global and Chinese firms.
His first bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping will take place in Beijing on Friday, during which they will discuss issues of mutual interest.
On Saturday, Yunus will deliver a lecture at Peking University (PKU), where the university will confer an honorary doctorate degree upon him.
Additionally, he will hold discussions with representatives of Chinese hospital chains to explore business opportunities and encourage them to establish hospitals in Bangladesh through joint ventures.
The chief adviser is expected to return to Bangladesh on Saturday.
