Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus has said his upcoming visit to China will strengthen ties between the two countries.

"I am going to China on a four-day visit tomorrow (Wednesday). I will have a meeting with President Xi Jinping. I will also meet with the CEOs of major Chinese business organizations," Yunus mentioned in a speech to the nation on the occasion of Independence Day and Eid-ul-Fitr.

The chief adviser added that the world's largest Chinese solar panel manufacturer, Longi, has shown interest in setting up a factory in Bangladesh. "We are working with them," he said.

"Additionally, discussions will be held on technical assistance, medical aid, affordable healthcare, and other matters. They want to import mangoes, jackfruits, and guavas from our country. This will begin very soon."

Highlighting Bangladesh's geographical significance, the chief adviser said: "I have always said that we are a very fortunate nation because of our position on the world map. If Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Bhutan—these four countries of South Asia—can build a joint economy, all four will benefit."

He continued: "We have an extensive ocean. Our geographical location brings us immense economic opportunities. From Kumira to Teknaf, this long coastal land. If modern, technology-driven international standard seaports, industrial factories, and export processing zones are established along this coast, the future of the entire economic region can change rapidly."

"Our products are the products of the world. These products will go to Nepal, Bhutan, and the Seven Sisters of India. Neighboring countries' products will come to our country and reach the whole world, thus establishing this as a profitable economic region. Bangladesh will play an important role in this region," the chief adviser added.
