Qatar has extended its full support to the reform agenda of Bangladesh's interim government, as said by the ambassador of Qatar, Seraya Ali Al-Qahtani on Tuesday.
Ambassador Al-Qahtani met with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna, where he conveyed his government's message.
"Qatar is eager to provide all forms of support to Bangladesh," the Qatari ambassador informed the chief adviser.
"That is wonderful," Chief Adviser Professor Yunus responded, thanking the emir of Qatar for his support and for being a close friend to Bangladesh.
The chief adviser emphasized the importance of strengthening the trade and investment relationship with Qatar.
He invited Qatari entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh and relocate their factories to the country's numerous economic zones.
"Bangladesh is now ready for business. We encourage Qatari businessmen to explore the opportunities here," he said, adding that Dhaka will host an investment summit in early April.
The Qatari envoy appreciated the invitation and expressed hope that more entrepreneurs from Qatar would visit Bangladesh soon.
Professor Yunus highlighted the reform agenda of his government and the work of the consensus commission in holding dialogues with political parties.
He mentioned that he is scheduled to visit Qatar next month to attend an international conference in the gas-rich Gulf kingdom.
