UN Secretary-General António Guterres on Friday said they will do everything possible to ensure the required funds for the Rohingya to avoid a situation in which people would suffer.
"I can promise that we'll do everything to avoid it and I will be talking to all the countries in the world that can support us in order to make sure that funds are made available," he said while visiting Balukhali Rohingya camp (Camp 18) on Friday.
Guterres said that they cannot allow the international community to forget about the Rohingya, and he will raise his voice loudly on their behalf, reports UNB.
Guterres said that the Rohingyas want to go back to Myanmar. "The Rohingya community wants to return to Myanmar—this is one of the key messages I received during my visit."
He further said: "Secondly, the Rohingyas demand better living conditions in the camps. Unfortunately, the United States and several other countries have recently made drastic cuts to humanitarian aid. As a result, food rations have been reduced. I have pledged to do my utmost to address this issue."
