The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday was unable to provide a clear explanation regarding the reported issuance of an Interpol red notice against ouster prime minister Sheikh Hasina.

Additionally, the ministry has not yet received any letter from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) concerning Saima Wazed Putul, regional director for South-East Asia at the World Health Organization (WHO) and Hasina's daughter, spokesperson Mohammad Rafiqul Alam said during a weekly briefing.

Rafiqul said any country can request an Interpol red notice by providing information about a suspected criminal, adding that a red notice is considered equivalent to an international arrest warrant issued by Interpol.

Responding to a question, he said: "I do not have any updated information regarding the red notice."

Regarding the letter from the ACC about Saima Wazed Putul, he said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not received any information on this matter yet.

The ACC reportedly found evidence that Saima holds Canadian citizenship.

Addressing this, Rafiqul Alam said: "We have not received any related documents. Therefore, making a premature statement on this issue would not be appropriate. We have not received the letter yet."

When asked about her dual citizenship, he said: "Generally, individuals with dual citizenship are not eligible for government positions. Any exceptions to this rule will be examined by the relevant ministry."
