Qatar Navy chief leaves Dhaka after two-day official visit

The Qatar Navy chief expressed hope that bilateral cooperation would continue to strengthen the relationship between the naval forces of Bangladesh and Qatar

Qatar Navy Chief of Staff Major General (Sea) Abdullah Hassan MA Al-Sulaiti, on Monday left Dhaka wrapping up his two-day official visit. 

He had earlier arrived on Sunday.

As part of his visit, the chief of the Qatar Navy on Monday paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Navy Chief Admiral M Nazmul Hassan at the Naval Headquarters in Banani, according to a release from the Directorate of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Upon his arrival at the Bangladesh Naval Headquarters, the Qatar Navy chief was welcomed by the assistant chief of Naval Operations.

A well-armed naval team presented a "guard of honour," which he inspected before taking the salute.

During their exchange of pleasantries, the visiting Qatar Navy chief and the Bangladesh Navy chief discussed various professional and training matters between the two countries' naval forces, the ISPR release said.

The Qatar Navy chief expressed his hope that bilateral cooperation would continue to strengthen the relationship between the naval forces of Bangladesh and Qatar in the future.

Among those present were APSOs of the Naval Headquarters, senior officers from the Qatar Navy, and other officials, including the charge d'affaires of the Qatar Embassy.

Earlier, the Qatar Navy chief paid tribute to the members of the armed forces who sacrificed their lives during the Great War of Independence in 1971 by laying wreaths at the Shikha Anirban (Eternal Flame) at Dhaka Cantonment.

He also paid courtesy calls on the army chief, air chief, and the principal staff officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Division.
