Bulgarian Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr Nikolay Yankov on Sunday confirmed the launch of visa facilitating services (VFS) for visa issuance in Dhaka.
He made the statement during a meeting with Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain at the foreign ministry, according to a press release from the ministry.
During the meeting, the ambassador also proposed holding the first round of bilateral consultations between Bangladesh and Bulgaria to strengthen relations between the two countries.
The foreign adviser expressed gratitude to Bulgaria for allowing Bangladeshi students to apply for visas at the Bulgarian embassies in Hanoi and Jakarta and requested an increase in student enrollment and educational cooperation.
The two sides also explored opportunities for expanding bilateral trade and investment, cooperation in the IT sector, cultural exchange, and the EU's Generalized Scheme of Preferences Plus (GSP+) after 2029.
The adviser also sought Bulgarian support for Bangladesh on the Rohingya issue in international forums, including the UN and the EU.
