Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin said that Bangladesh has a clear roadmap for implementing International Labour Organization (ILO) conventions, reflecting the country's strong commitment to the organization.
He made the remarks during a courtesy meeting with European Union Ambassador and Head of Delegation Michael William Miller at his office in Dhaka on Tuesday.
During the discussion, topics such as bilateral trade, enhanced mutual cooperation, ILO convention implementation, and the recovery of laundered funds were addressed.
The adviser highlighted Bangladesh's large, predominantly young population, emphasizing the government’s goal of achieving economic progress by transforming them into skilled human resources.
Regarding the rising commodity prices, he mentioned that taxes on imports were imposed to stabilize the local market.
The European Union ambassador said that a free trade agreement between the countries would significantly boost trade.
He also emphasized that direct European investment in Bangladesh would increase with improved investment conditions.
Michael Miller expressed interest in assisting Bangladesh with the recovery of laundered and stolen funds by providing logistical support and expert advice.
