Following a protest and attack at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, Tripura, the Bangladesh government has strengthened security at the Indian High Commission in Dhaka.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Diplomatic Security Division) Mohammad Noor-e-Alam confirmed the matter on Monday evening.
Alam said security at the Indian High Commission in Dhaka has been enhanced, adding that additional forces have been deployed in front of the Indian High Commission by the division.
Additionally, the Gulshan Division and Traffic Division are also working to ensure security, the officer said.
Regular checkpoints are also in place in the area, he added.
"We are not anticipating any threats, but as a precaution following the Agartala incident, security at the Indian High Commission in Dhaka has been strengthened."
Earlier in the day, members of a group called Hindu Sangarsha Samiti vandalized the office of the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala in protest of the alleged persecution of minorities in Bangladesh and the arrest of Chinmoy Das.
The protesters also reportedly set fire to the area in front of the office.
To bring the situation under control, Indian police and TSR forces rushed to the spot.
