Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma has said Delhi is closely engaged with Dhaka "to fulfil the shared aspirations of our people for peace, security and development."
Verma was talking with journalists after his maiden meeting with Bangladesh’s new foreign secretary, Md Jashim Uddin, on Tuesday.
"It was more to introduce each other and also to exchange views on broader relationship. Not very detailed, but this was an introductory meeting," Verma said about the meeting.
"... and we will continue to take forward the relationship in multifaceted areas in which we are engaged," he said.
"You know, it's a very important relationship for us, and we look forward to taking this forward."
