Pakistan calls for revitalizing bilateral relations with Bangladesh

Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif telephones Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus

In a bid to strengthen diplomatic ties, Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif called Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus on Friday to emphasize the need for revitalizing bilateral relations through increased cooperation across various domains.

During the conversation, Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Professor Muhammad Yunus on assuming the office of chief adviser and lauded his contribution to the socio-economic development of Bangladesh.

Shehbaz also expressed sympathies over the devastation caused by the recent floods in Bangladesh, said a statement issued by the Pakistan Prime Minister's Office on Friday.

Noting the historical, religious and cultural bonds between Pakistan and Bangladesh, Shehbaz Sharif expressed a keen desire to boost commercial relations, cultural exchanges and people-to-people contacts. 

Both leaders agreed that there was a need to work closely for the progress and prosperity of the people of Pakistan and Bangladesh. 

They further agreed that greater regional cooperation could play a vital role in uplifting the lives of the people of South Asia. 

Bangladesh interim government Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus thanked the Pakistan prime minister for the telephone call.
