The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has celebrated Bangladesh's Independence Day by illuminating its landmarks buildings including Burj Khalifa with the Bangladesh's national bi-color.

On the occasion of March 26, iconic landmarks including the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world in Dubai and the ADNOC headquarters in Abu Dhabi, were adorned in the vibrant red and green shades of the Bangladeshi national flag on Tuesday.

"This symbolic gesture of solidarity serves to foster bilateral harmony and commemorate significant moments with Bangladesh," the UAE embassy said.

"Since the independence in 1971, our bilateral relations have steadily strengthened. As we celebrate 50 years of formal diplomatic ties this year, we aim to continue growing further together," UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdulla Ali AlHmoudi said.

He emphasized the enduring friendship between the two nations and expressed optimism about further expanding their excellent relations across various dimensions in the future.

With more than a million Bangladeshi expatriates residing in the UAE, it stands as the second-largest community of non-resident Bangladeshis worldwide.

Bangladeshis represent the third-largest expatriate group in the UAE. Among these expatriates are workers, along with professionals such as doctors, engineers, professors, accountants, and IT experts.
