State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat has shown interest to work with Turkey in terms of exchanges of experiences with regard to media and combating misinformation.
He made the comment after a meeting with his Turkish counterpart Fahrettin Altun in Istanbul on Saturday.
The state minister is in Turkey to attend the conference of Information Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The theme of the event is "Israeli government's disinformation and hostility against journalists during the Israeli occupation of Palestine".
“I had a wonderful meeting with the Turkish Head of the Communications Department (information minister), Fahrettin Altun, in Istanbul on the sidelines. I have conveyed the best wishes of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to the president and the first lady of Turkey and invited the information minister to visit Bangladesh,” Arafat said in X, formerly twitter, after the meeting.
“I have expressed my interest in collaboration with Turkey in terms of exchanges of experiences with regard to media and combating misinformation.”
Combating misinformation and rumours is one the priorities of Mohammad Ali Arafat. He has already shared his plans to establish a framework to ensure accountability in this regard.
