  • Rumors began when a person named Mian Arafi visited the BNP office
Update : 28 Oct 2023, 09:13 PM

No US embassy diplomat visited the BNP office or any injured after the violent clash between the opposition activists and the police.

“The rumors of any movements of the US embassy are completely false and inaccurate,” said a US embassy spokesperson when asked.

The rumors began when a person named Mian Arafi visited the BNP office and identified him as an adviser of the US President Joe Biden’s election campaign.

The person talked to the media in English along with BNP leaders and claimed that he sent the report of Saturday’s events to US President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

BNP leader Ishraque Hossain was sitting next to him. A video of his statement was also circulated to the media.

“This gentleman does not speak for the US government and is a private individual,” the US embassy spokesperson said.

One police constable was killed and 41 others were injured when BNP activists clashed with police in the Kakrail area.

At least 17 journalists were also beaten during the clash.
