PM Hasina set to address Global Gateway Forum

  • Bangladesh, European Commission to sign five different grant agreements
  • PM will hold numerous meetings on forum sidelines
  • She is scheduled to return home on Friday

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to address the opening plenary session of the EU's Global Gateway Forum in Brussels, Belgium, on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the day's schedule, the premier will attend the session at the Plenary Hall of the conference venue and will deliver a five-minute address between 1:30pm and 2:30pm local time.

She arrived in Brussels on Tuesday evening on a three-day official visit to attend the two-day conference at the invitation of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

In the morning, she will have a bilateral meeting with Ursula von der Leyen.

Afterwards, the prime minister will witness a loan support agreement of €350 million on the renewable energy sector, to be signed between the Bangladesh government's Economic Relations Department (ERD) and the European Investment Bank.
 
A grant agreement of €45 million for Bangladesh's renewable energy sector will also be signed between the European Commission and the European Investment Bank.

A €12 million grant agreement between the Bangladesh government and the European Commission will be signed for Bangladesh's renewable energy sector as well.

Bangladesh and the European Commission will sign five different grant agreements worth €70 million on Bangladesh's social sectors.

The premier then will hold a bilateral meeting with European Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarcic.

She later will give an interview on the TV Channel Euronews.

Afterwards, European Parliament Vice-President Nicola Beer will pay a call on the Bangladesh premier.

The prime minister then will have separate bilateral meetings with European Investment Bank President Dr Werner Hoyer and European Commissioner for International Partnerships Jutta Urpilainen.

In the evening, she will attend a dinner hosted by Ursula von der Leyen in honour of the heads of state and government participating in the Global Gateway Forum.

On Thursday, she will hold a bilateral meeting with her Belgian counterpart, Alexander De Croo.

The premier will also hold a bilateral meeting with Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel.

In the afternoon on the same day, Sheikh Hasina will attend a reception accorded to her by Bangladeshi expatriates living in Belgium.

On the same day, POLITICO is likely to conduct an interview of the Bangladesh prime minister.

She is scheduled to return home on Friday.
