“We have approved the import of 700,000 bags of saline from India. Among those, 350,000 saline bags will arrive in the country within today or tomorrow. The rest will come within a few days. If we need more, we will arrange to bring more saline bags.”
The minister said that not only in Dhaka City, Aedes mosquitoes have spread throughout the country. Because of this, there has been an outbreak of dengue patients all over Bangladesh.
“Every day some 2,500 new dengue cases are recorded. So far about seven hundred patients have died. More than 150,000 dengue patients have been recorded across the country this year. It is not possible for the government to go to every house and clean it,” said Zahid Maleque.
The health minister also said mosquito control activities should be carried out throughout the year. Only then, it will be possible to eradicate mosquitoes.
