India has handed over 20 broad-gauge diesel locomotives to Bangladesh as a grant to alleviate the latter's locomotive crisis.
Bangladesh Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan and his Indian counterpart, Ashwini Vaishnaw, were connected virtually to the locomotive handover ceremony at Bangladesh Railway Bhaban on Tuesday.
The two ministers expressed hope that the friendship and mutual cooperation between Bangladesh and India will increase day by day.
India agreed to supply these rail engines during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to the country in September last year.
With this, India has given locomotives to Bangladesh for the second time in the last three years.
Earlier, India provided 10 of them in July 2020.
