Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that he told US Ambassador Peter Haas in a meeting that the upcoming national elections will not take place under a caretaker government
“I told the US ambassador today (Wednesday) that the caretaker government will not return to this country,” Quader said it in a program at TSC Auditorium of Dhaka University on Wednesday afternoon after having a meeting followed by lunch earlier with the US ambassador in Bangladesh .

He said BNP should forget about reinstating caretaker government system during national polls.
Obaidul Quader said: “BNP is an illegal party formed by illegal people. They have destroyed the democracy of this country.”
Awami League presidium member Zahangir Kabir Nanak, member Tarana Halim, general secretary of Central Chhatra League Sheikh Wali Asif Inan spoke at the meeting under the chairmanship of Chhatra League president Saddam Hossain.
Dhaka University Branch Chhatra League President Mazharul Kabir Shayon and General Secretary Tanbir Hasan Saikat also spoke in the event .
