Argentine Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero is expected to arrive in Bangladesh on Monday.
On February 9, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, Sehli Sabreen, gave the information in the weekly media briefing.
Sehli Sabreen said that Argentine Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero will come to Dhaka on a three-day visit. During his visit, the announcement of the opening of Argentina's mission in Dhaka may come.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that during Santiago Cafiero's visit, there is a possibility of signing agreements with Bangladesh on three issues, including cooperation in the agricultural sector.
On December 10, 2022, Santiago Cafiero said Argentina would push the reopening project of the embassy in Bangladesh, closed since 1978.
The decision to reopen the embassy was most likely boosted by the massive Bangladeshi support for Lionel Messi's team in the Fifa World Cup in Qatar.
After Argentina won the World Cup in December, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina sent a congratulatory letter to the South American country's president, Alberto Fernandez.
In response, President Alberto wrote back, thanking the Bangladesh prime minister.
Alberto said he believed that the people of the two countries would be bound by the bond of brotherhood and harmony by establishing an embassy of Argentina in Dhaka in 2023.
