China has put forward her own solution in a world that is undergoing drastic changes unseen in a century, marred by war, regression, isolation and confrontation, Ambassador Li Jiming said on Saturday.

“…we are faced with way more questions than Prince Hamlet once had. China vows to be a builder of world peace, a contributor to global development, and defender of the international order,” he said at the reception celebrating the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

“We advocate a new type of international relations featuring mutual respect, fairness, justice and win-win cooperation, and endeavor to work with all to build a community with a shared future for mankind,” the envoy said.

He added that China upholds true multilateralism, promotes a global community of security for all, and encourages consultation, cooperation, and shared benefits in global governance.

“We promote humanity’s common values of peace, development, equity, justice, democracy and freedom. In the meantime, we reject any Cold-war mindset, group confrontation, or unilateral sanctions,” the ambassador added.

“On October 1, 1949, Chairman Mao Zedong, standing high on the Tian'anmen Rostrum, proclaimed with all solemnity that the People's Republic of China has been founded, marking an end to the country’s century-long adversity and humiliation,” he said on Saturday evening.

The envoy also described different steps taken by the Chinese governments over the years, and China’s development cooperation with Bangladesh.

Planning Minister MA Mannan was present as chief guest at the colourful event held at the Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in Dhaka.

State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Workers Parry chief Rashed Khan Menon MP, Samyobadi Dal President and former minister Dilip Barua attended the reception.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Vice Chairman Abdul Awal Mintoo were also present alongside envoys of different countries, defence officials, business persons and media persons.

Prior to the reception, an exhibition on the exportable items from China's Yunnan Province and a Bangladesh-China Economic and Trade Forum meeting were held at the same venue.
