Ambassadors of different countries to Bangladesh paid tribute to the victims of the 2016 militant attack on Holey Artisan Bakery in Gulshan, Dhaka, on Saturday.
“In commemoration of the seventh anniversary of the Holey Artisan Bakery attack” Italy, Japan, India, the US and Bangladesh “remembered and honoured those whose lives were tragically lost,” the Italian mission tweeted.
“A memorial plaque has been also inaugurated in the new Seat of @italyinbd in #Dhaka.”
On July 1, 2016, a group of militants attacked Holey Artisan Bakery and killed 22 people, including 17 foreigners and two policemen.
The carnage ended when a team of army commandos stormed the restaurant in Gulshan and shot the five attackers dead the next day.
