Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has termed the recent reports on Bangladesh-India-China relations in various media as rubbish.
He complained that various media outlets were spreading nonsense. However, it will not affect the relationship with the other countries, said the foreign minister.
"We are a peace-loving country ane we are everyone’s friend, no one’s enemy,” he added.
The minister said: “Bangladesh have a close relationship with India historically. A call from someone or someone doing something is not going to affect the bilateral relationship.
Stating that there has been no change in the position of Bangladesh, he added: "The media is deliberately spreading nonsense, which can be called rubbish."
On the recent dispute over the Sino-Indian border, the minister said few Indians died in a battle and the Indian prime minister has said no one occupied even an inch of land.
"The Indian government did not send us any verbal notes that any of their people have died. As a result, naturally, we did not make any statement,” he added.
Abdul Momen also said: "Neither India nor China has asked us for support on any issue. None of them has said anything to us and we do not know about the matter even."
“When our media questioned, we said we want a peaceful and stable situation. We want better solutions through negotiations. We never meddle into anyone's internal affairs. This is our position in all matters. "
False and fabricated information
About the report, the Indian ambassador beinh unable to meetg the prime minister, he said: “Media said the Indian High Commissioner has not been able to meet the prime minister for four months."
“To my knowledge she asked for an appointment on July 22 and gave us ample time. She will probably leave on late September or early October and wanted a meeting before that.”
For Covid-19, the prime minister is not meeting anyone now and the Cabinet meetings are also being held virtually, said the minister.
“Meanwhile, many foreign ambassadors have gone back home and the prime minister did not meet any of them. Therefore, the information which has come out is completely false and fabricated,” he added.
Regarding Sylhet Osmani Airport, Abdul Momen said: “The question arose that why the job was given to China and not India. In this case, work is given considering the technical and financial aspects by following the tender process.”
"From what I have heard, the Chinese are technically qualified and have the lowest rates," said the minister.
“India's finances were too much and as a result they could not make it. However, some newspapers say that we have given more benefits to China, which is completely absurd,” he added.
