Three Bangladeshi peacekeepers, who sacrificed their lives while serving in the UN peace operations last year, were honoured on Wednesday with "Dag Hammarskjöld Medal," a posthumous award given by the United Nations.
Bangladesh Army soldier Md Abdul Bashar and constables of Bangladesh Police Motaher Hosen and Md Samidul Islam were among the 117 peacekeepers of 43 countries awarded the Medal, according to a statement put out by the UN on Thursday.

Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the UN Masud Bin Momen received the medals on behalf of them at the UN during the observance of the International Day of United Nations.
