Indian Army gifts Bangladesh Army 10 trained dogs

'These trained dogs are capable of detecting drugs and criminals'

The Indian Army has handed over 10 trained dogs to the Bangladesh Army as gift at Benapole in Jessore.

Col Keshab Jadav of India's Chashara Army Camp handed over the dogs to Bangladesh Army Col Anwar Hossain and Lt Col Mizanur Rahman around 1pm on Saturday.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Benapole Camp Commander Subedar Mizanur Rahman said the dogs were brought to Kolkata's Chashara Army Camp from the Miraat Army Camp in India first.

They were handed over to the Bangladesh Army at the BGB camp from Petrapole BSF (Border Security Force) Camp after completing all the formalities, he said.

The BGB official said the Indian Army would give 30 trained dogs to Bangladesh Army as gift and this was the first lot.

Receiving the dogs, Col Anwar Hossain said: "These trained dogs are capable of detecting drugs and criminals."
